Do I have to set a scheduled discharge?

In ‘self-consumption’ mode, the house demand is covered by solar power as a priority, then by the energy remaining in the battery, and finally by the grid if the battery SOC is too low. This is all without the need to set a scheduled discharge.

When a scheduled discharge is set, the discharge rate can be set up to the processing rate of the inverter (e.g. 6000w for a 6kw inverter). This will prioritise discharging the battery to the house demand, then push all remaining power from the battery to the grid.

This is ideal when looking to optimise the benefits of a Variable Rate Tariff, provided by your Energy supplier. e.g. EDF, British Gas or Octopus.

The purpose in this scenario is to set charges to top up the battery during the cheap rate and discharge the battery when energy is more expensive.

Note: Make sure all scheduled charges/discharges that are set are enabled by clicking the toggle in the right corner, and that the scheduled charges and discharges do not conflict with one another.
