Can I use a third-party EV charger with my Duracell Energy system?
Yes, you can use a third-party EV charger alongside your Duracell Energy battery system. However, third-party chargers are not compatible with the Duracell Energy app and will be recognised as a standard household load.
For optimum performance, an approved electrician needs to move the grid current transformer (CT) to be connected to the Dura-i so that it will only see the house load and the inverter (everything but the EV charger). This might require some adjustments to your electrical layout between the grid supply meter and any distribution boards.
To help prevent your battery from discharging to charge your EV, you can set a scheduled battery charge power of 1W or more in the Duracell Energy app during your planned charging period.
We’re also working on a new version of the Duracell Energy EV Charger, expected to launch in 2027.
